For this design competition, I was challenged to produce a small-scale batch of contextually-relevant objects that would be put on sale in the Blaffer Art Museum gift shop.
Located in the heart of Houston, The Blaffer Art Museum keeps a mix of professional and student work circulating its galleries and maintains a strong reputation as a center for innovation, experimentation, and scholarship.
The Greater Third Ward neighborhood is steeped in history as being one of the most important in making Houston into the bustling port city that it is today. The shotgun house played a vital role as it provided a simple and affordable form of housing for the workers that lived in the area. Although materials varied, the most common building materials of the time were yellow pine timber and steel nails.

The final product boasts beautiful striations thanks to a linseed oil coating that brings out contrasts in the 150 year old antique pine.
Special edition run of three in Walnut
